Mildred M. Gavitt

A Mother hold's her children's hands for a little while…and their hearts forever. Our loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother Mildred M. Gavitt, 90 of Church St., Barton, NY passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2008 following a brief period of declining health. Millie was born on July 27, 1918 in Sheshequin Twp., Pa a daughter of the late Morris O. and Ada (Blackman) Brown. Millie enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, was an avid painter and will be remember for her many years of hairdressing. She was a devoted member of the Tioga Center United Methodist Church. She is survived by he daughters: Sandra J. Henline of Port Gibson, NY; Sharon W. (Edd) Witt of Viera, Florida; Sheila (Al) Middleton of Nichols; Gary B.Gavitt of Artesia, New Mexico; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Millie was predeceased by her husband Blake Gerald Gavitt on May 14, 1986; her siblings Robert W. Brown, Walter H. Brown, and Hilda L. Brown. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Millie's life on Wednesday, August 20th at 2 pm at the Tioga Center United Methodist Church with her pastor, Rev. Laurence E. Mather, OSL, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bradford County Memorial Park.
