Mina Louise Babcock

Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all….Mina Louise Babcock, 77, of Nichols passed away with her family at her side Wednesday morning, June 10, 2015. Mina was born on April 7, 1938 in East Berkshire, NY a daughter of the late Guy and Marie (Shaff) Sherwood. She was a graduate of Newark Valley High School Class of 1957. On August 7, 1957 she married Charles Babcock, together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. For many years, Mina was employed at Ernie's Diner in Owego and the Lounsberry Truck Stop. In addition, she also assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. Mina is survived by her loving husband Charles Babcock, Sr.; her children: Charles Jr. and Cate Babcock of Nichols; Wayne and Diana Babcock of Rome, Pa; Diane and Jack Roborski of Reading, Pa; Chet and Shannon Babcock of Nichols; her siblings and their spouses: LeRoy and Joanna Sherwood of Berkshire, NY; Nellie Moses of Owego, NY; June and Russell Ink of Brooktondale, NY; Grace P. Brooks (and her late husband John Brooks); of Brooktondale, NY; Doris and Ken Wyrant of Cuba, NY; Starry and Sharon Sherwood of Harford, NY; Edwin and Lena Sherwood of Berkshire, NY; Lucy and Dave Soper of Millport, NY; Ruth and Dan Smith of West Brainbridge, NY; Connie and Douglas Wandall of Richford, NY; a Aunt Lena Shaff of Newark Valley, NY; thirteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, June 19th from 2-4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Mina's life will follow at 4 pm with Pastor Stephen Logsdon, officiating.
