Nancy W. Branston, a beacon of love and gentleness, passed away peacefully at her home in Nichols, on April 13, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on September 28, 1947, in Johnson City, NY, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Barbara “Joy” Wheeler. Nancy was a woman whose life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, unwavering friendship, and professional commitment.

Nancy's journey began as a proud graduate of Owego High School's Class of 1965. Her pursuit of excellence led her to a fulfilling career as a legal secretary, where she dedicated over 25 years of service to the law office of Susan Hartley.

Beyond her professional life, Nancy was the heart of her family. She shared 57 years of marriage with her husband, James C. Branston, whose love and companionship were the cornerstones of her life. Together, they nurtured a family that included their daughter Cheri Dann and son Steven Branston. Known affectionately as Ommy, she cherished her role as a grandmother to Erica, imparting wisdom and laughter in equal measure.

Her lifelong friendship with Nancy Lancaster, which began at the tender age of 3, was a testament to her loyalty and the joy she found in enduring companionship. Nancy's family circle extended to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Melanie Branston and their family, with whom she shared numerous treasured moments.

Nancy's interests were a reflection of her creativity and love for her home. An artist at heart, she found solace in drawing and expressed her care for others through the meticulous crafts of sewing and knitting. Her talent for cake decorating brought joy to many family occasions, turning each celebration into a memory to be cherished.

She was a woman who approached life with a soft touch and a warm smile, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to have known her. Her presence was a comfort, her words a balm, and her actions a demonstration of love in its purest form.
