Nicholas Peter Byrne, known affectionately as Nick, passed away tragically on July 6, 2024, from injuries sustained in a 4-wheeler accident. Born on July 28, 1993, in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, Nick's vibrant spirit and loving nature touched many throughout his 30 years of life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and adventure.
Nick is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife, Acacia "Kasey" (Hutton) Byrne, his devoted parents Michael Byrne and Michelle Garay-Byrne, and his cherished siblings Joseph Fashouer, Sara Bowman, Joshua and Brandi Fashouer, Brianna and Joseph Hewett, and Kyah Fashouer. His maternal grandparents: Darlene and Andrew Garay. He will also be deeply missed by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Debbi and Nick Hutton, and Acacia’s grandfather, Raffaelle Csogi. His aunts and uncles, Michael Garay, Lisa and Robert Rubi, Christopher and Stacey Hutton, Kelly Hutton, Doreen and David Holmstrom; his cousins: Michaela Garay and Brittany McClain; along with his loyal canine companions, Redwood and Rocky, will remember him fondly. Nick was predeceased by his grandparents James and Olga Byrne, Charles and Nancy Gable, Andrew Garay, Sr., Faye Kelly, and his nephew, Grayson Puterbaugh.
A proud alumnus of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, class of 2012, Nick demonstrated his commitment to service early on by enlisting in the Marines during his junior year. Following his honorable discharge, he furthered his education at Raritan Valley Community College, earning an associate's degree in Logistics. His career as a Lead Data Specialist for Waste Management, which he started in 2021, was marked by his keen intellect and steadfast work ethic.
Generosity was second nature to Nick. He was considering a foray into local politics, driven by a desire to give back to the community that had given him so much. His loyalty to friends and family was unparalleled, and his determination was a force to be reckoned with. Nick was a man who loved deeply and lived fully. He was the embodiment of the words of Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." His adventurous soul, loving heart, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Nick's zest for life was unmistakable. He and Acacia transformed a school bus into an RV, an adventure that took them to 27 states, exploring the grandeur of America's National Parks. His love for his farm and homestead, affectionately known as "Redwood Ranch" in Rome, Pennsylvania, was a testament to his passion for nature and self-sufficiency. An avid player of board games, he relished the strategic challenge of "Stone Age," and in the world of video gaming, he was known by friends as "Tiny Batman." Nick's humorous side often shone through, especially when he was enjoying episodes of "The Simpsons," of which he had completed 14 seasons.
As we mourn the loss of our beloved Nicholas Peter Byrne, we also celebrate the remarkable life he led. In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Nick's spirit and love have indeed become a part of all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire us all to live fully, love deeply, and embrace the adventures of life.
