Norma Edith Chubbuck

July 13, 1927 — February 10, 2015

Norma E. Chubbuck, 87, of Rome, Pa. passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Norma was born on July 13, 1927 in Camptown, Pa, the daughter of the late Gordon and Luraette Coleman Bennett. She graduated from the LeRaysville High School where she participated in the school band and was an avid basketball player. After graduation she then attended and graduated from beauty school in Elmira, NY. Soon, thereafter, she married Edgar Chubbuck with whom she spent nearly 68 years of married life. Raising her children and caring for her husband were of utmost importance to Norma. She enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables, reading, sewing, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a lifelong member of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ in LeRaysville and Potterville, Pa. where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and served on various church committee's and Ladies Aid group. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon Bennett, mother Luraette Colemen Bennett, son Lynn Chubbuck, and sisters Ruth Kelley and Alice Watson. Surviving are her husband Edgar Chubbuck at home, children Marie (Lynn) Chubbuck of Endicott, NY, Marcus Chubbuck at home and Susan (Raymond) Bird of Vestal, NY; grandchildren Terri (Greg) Peck, Daniel (Theresa) Chubbuck, Kelly (Chad) Benedict, Captain Andrew Bird, Kyle Bird, and Emily Bird; sister Blanche Bennett; great grandchildren Saraiha, Charity, Lynsey, Abby, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff of Memorial Hospital and the Memorial Hospital Hospice and especially to nurse Sharon Cullen and aide Regina Yates whose unerring love and care sustained us all through this difficult time. It was Norma's wish that services be private. A graveside service at Darling Cemetery will be held at the family's convenience.
