Norman E. Darling

Norman E. Darling went home to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning, November 3rd, 2010. He was 83 years old. Married to Betty Darling for 65 years, who passed away in 2009, he is survived by his current wife, Dot Brown Darling, as well as numerous children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The couple resided in Apalachin, NY. Norman passed away peacefully in his sleep at Wilson Hospital following a very short illness. Norman was father to eight children. Their names follow from eldest to youngest. Dawn Bombard, her husband Jim, their son Scott with his wife Leanne and their daughter Trinity. Sharon Hale, her husband Chip, their daughter Mimi Swartley with her husband Tom and their children Dwight, Matt, Beth, and Jared, and daughter Wendy Newman with her husband Rick, and their sons Nathan and Luke. Nancy Wright (now deceased), her husband Robert, son Mark with his wife, Raina and children Ian, Phelan, Keira, and Skylar, daughter Laura Wright, and daughter Leslie Pasco with husband Joe and their children Ashley, Taylor and Riley. Gene (Pete) Darling, his wife Jill, son Greg with his wife Faith and their children Andrew, Elijah, Lavella and Jonah, and son Keith. Susie Seifert, her husband Gary, and children Jamie Chaffee with wife Kelly and their children Hunter, Jordyn and Isaiah, daughter Sara Chaffee, and son Timothy Chaffee with wife Abbie and daughter Josie. Norma Santacrose, her husband Jim, their children Theresa Boyer with her husband Pat and their children Asher, Emma, Judah, Abigail and Daisy, daughter Christian Abell with her husband Rob and their children Malachi and Elise, son Mike Santacrose, son Joe Santacrose (now deceased), and daughter Jessica Santacrose. Frank Darling, his wife Bonnie and their children Kayla and Zach. Rick Darling. Norman was proud father to 8 children, grandpa to 18, and great-grampa to 29. He was much loved by his family. He went by Norm, Norman, Tink, Uncle Tink, and Dad to his children, but was the most proud to be known simply as Grampa D. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services and a celebration of Norman's life on Sunday, November 7th at 2 pm at the South Apalachin Baptist Church, Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin. A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, November 6th from 4-8pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
