Patricia A. Zorn
of Tioga Center, NY
Patricia A. Zorn, affectionately known as Patti, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, at the Mercy House of the Southern Tier, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on December 3, 1954, in Waverly, NY, Patti's life was defined by her unwavering spirit, her nurturing nature, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Patti's journey began as the daughter of John and Annabelle (Babcock) Slater. She grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings: Larry (Bonnie) Slater, Scott (Kim) Slater, Shirley (Alan) Robertson, Susan Siminski, and was predeceased by her brother Chuck Slater. She attended Tioga Central High School, where she graduated with the class of 1973. During her high school years, she cheered her team on as a cheerleader and became an elite member of the "Barton Bombers," setting the stage for a lifetime of enthusiasm and team spirit.
In the summer of 1995, Patti married the love of her life, Brian Zorn, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Brian always considered Patti his rock, a testament to the strength and support she provided throughout their 31 years of marriage. Their family grew to include her children Jeffery Middleton and his fiancée Heather Cron, Jennifer Middleton, and Nicole Morris. Patti's role as a grandmother to Victoria Kipp, Brandon Morris, Reylyn Swartzoff, Jeffery Middleton, Jr., Dallin Morris, Kaden Middleton, Kyliegh Middleton, and Justin Middleton, as well as a great-grandmother to seven beautiful souls, was one she cherished deeply. Her love and guidance extended to many nieces, nephews, her sister-in-law Deb Slater as well as Brian's siblings.
Professionally, Patti dedicated over three decades of service as a Clerk for the Tioga County Department of Motor Vehicles and also worked at the Tioga County Clerk's office. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her involvement in her community, where she was a valued member of the Nichols Ladies Auxiliary.
Patti's zest for life was apparent through her multiple interests and hobbies. She took great pride in her flower gardens, which reflected the beauty and care she put into everything she touched. Family bonfires, yard sales, and the simple pleasure of visiting with people were among her favorite pastimes. An adventurer at heart, Patti enjoyed white-water rafting, playing horseshoes, bowling, and playing softball. She was the glue that kept her family together, a role she fulfilled with love and grace.
Those who knew Patti would describe her as loving, kind, and friendly—a friend to many. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. As Helen Keller once said, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Pat's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain a part of the lives she touched.
Patti was predeceased by her parents, John and Annabelle (Babcock) Slater; her brother Chuck Slater; and her grandson Ahmari Malloy. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will continue to live on through her family, her friends, and her beloved dog, Zorro.
Abiding with Patti's wishes a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Pat will be so very missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
