Patricia M. Babcock

Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we'll miss you, until we meet again…..Surrounded by her family and those who meant the world to her, Patricia M. Babcock, 75, of Owego, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital. Born on June 6, 1941, at home in Owego, Patricia was the daughter of the late Hiriam F. and Ivah L. (Sherwood) Shaff. She was a graduate of Owego Free Academy Class of 1959. Shortly following graduation on August 15, 1959 she married Harry E. Babcock. Together they shared fifty-seven years of marriage and opened their home to eight children. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Patricia assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening and was a wonderful cook. Patricia will be missed by her husband Harry E. Babcock, Sr; her children: Ann (John) Monroe of Mexico, NY; Carol (Bill) Rotary of Binghamton; Dale Babcock; Allan Babcock (Lori Brand) Harry Jr. (Amy) Babcock all of Nichols; Laurie (Kris) Morris of Smithboro; Bill (Beth) Babcock of Nichols; Kimberly (Mike) Meade of Nichols; her sister Mary Etta Deretz of Nichols; brothers Brandon (Sheila) Shaff of Owego; Donny Paul (Wendy) Shaff of Nichols; a sister-in-law: Gloria Shaff of Owego; twenty-three grandchildren, a great grandson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Patricia was welcomed and greeted into heaven by her parents, an infant daughter Jill; a brother Fred and brother-in-law Dwight Deretz. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Sunday, June 26th from 1 to 3 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of her life will follow at 3 pm with Pastor Phillip Nase, of the Owego Nazarene Church, officiating.
