Patrick L. Lyons

Surrounded by his family and those he loved, Patrick L. Lyons, 68, of Route 96, Owego, NY passed away to his heavenly home on Monday, August 29, 2011. Patrick was born on August 8, 1943 in Chenango Forks, NY a son of the late Lynn M. and Luella (Jones) Lyon. He was a graduate of Vestal High School and proudly served his country with the US Navy. On September 21, 1963 he married Carol I. Hoag and together they had nearly forty-eight years of marriage. Patrick was a life member of the Tioga County Sportsman Club and former member of the Tioga County Council of the Arts. Dedicated to his family, he also enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors in his garden, baking and was always willing to help others. Pat was a retired school bus driver for the Union Endicott School District. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Patrick is survived by his wife Carol at home; his children: Clayton L. Lyons; Deneene F. Stroupe; Jodene (Gary) Gaylord; Charles (Sherry) VanAuken and Terrace Blacknell; his brothers: James (Louise) Lyon; Jay (Noreen) Lyon; David (Patrica) Lyon; sisters: Stella (Frank) Kerosetz; Lilette (Richard) Beuttenmuller; grandchildren: Matthew Conrow, Kimberly Conrow; Nathaniel Gaylord, Michelle Stroupe; Alexis Lyons, Lynn Lyons, Rebecca VanAuken and Charlie VanAuken; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Patrick was predeceased by his brother Clayton Lee Lyon. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Patrick's life on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 6 pm at the Allen Memorial Baptist Church, 8 Church Street, Candor, NY with Pastor Donald Coole and Pastor Victor Perry, officiating.
