No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why…..Paul E. Twigg, Jr., 89, of Talmadge Hill, Waverly passed away on Thursday evening, January 23, 2014. Paul was born on September 7, 1924 in Endicott, NY a son of the late Ida (Tobbe) and Paul E. Twigg, Sr. He proudly served his country during WWII with the US Navy. On February 1, 1947 in Nichols he married Harriet Vought and together they have shared nearly sixty-seven years of marriage. Paul retired from IBM-Owego following 40 years as a Staff Engineer. He was a member of the Barton United Methodist Church, a member of the Tioga Lodge No. 534 ~ served as Past Grand Swordbearer for NYS Masonic Lodge; member of Waverly Order Eastern Star Chapter 9 ~ served as Past Grand Lecturer Eastern Star NYS; member of Oak Leaf Grange # 1412 at Smithboro. Paul treasured his family, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and gardening. Paul will be greatly missed by his wife Harriet, his children: Paula Hamilton (John Wessels) of Waverly; Karen (John) Hooper of Rochester; David (Dottie) Twigg of Richmond, VA; Roger (Jeri) Twigg of Clinton, NJ; his sisters Barbara Fairlie of Barton; Norma Barrowcliff of Sayre, a sister-in-law Irene Cleveland of Dryden; eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Paul was predeceased by his parents; brothers-in-law: Tom Fairlie, George "Sunny" Barrowcliff; and sisters-in-law Marion Vought and Dorothy Manchester. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Monday, January 27, 2014 from 3-6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Masonic Services will be accorded at 6 pm by Tioga Lodge No. 534. Funeral services and a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, January 28th at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel where military honors will be accorded. Interment will be in the Nichols Cemetery.
