Paul Young

October 9, 1921 — January 15, 2008

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, remember the love that we have shared and that will comfort thee. Paul H. Young, 86, of Warren Center, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 15, 2008. Paul was born on October 9, 1921 in Waverly, NY a son of Wilmot and Edith (Wright) Young. He attended school in Warren Center and was a graduate of LeRaysville High School Class of 1939. Following graduation, Paul enlisted into the US Army and proudly served his country during WW II. On September 12, 1942 he married Rowena Jones and together they celebrated 61 years of marriage until her passing on January 30, 2004. "Ernie Young" will long be remembered as base ball player for the West Warren Ball team during the 1950's. Paul was a retired employee of IBM-Owego where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. In addition he also was a member of the Warren Township Fire Department and served as Warren Township Supervisor for 12 years. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Douglas and Janice Young of LeRaysville, Pa; James and Kimberly Young of North Carolina; Richard and Cheryl Young of Warren Center, Pa. A sister Pat "Ethelyn" Johnson of Elmira; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Paul was predeceased by his wife Rowena; sister Evelyn Contento; brothers Reuben and Stanley Young. A funeral service and celebration of Paul's life will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 at 11 am at the Warren Center United Methodist Church. A private family interment will follow in the Warren Center Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2008 from 2- 4 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols. A period of visitation will also be held on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service at the church.
