Phyllis A. Coyle

When someone you love becomes a memory….the memory becomes a treasure ~ our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Phyllis A. Coyle, 78, of Barton, New York passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Elderwood Health Care Facility in Waverly following a period of declining health. Phyllis was born on January 13, 1936 in Barton, NY a daughter of the late Ralph and Anna May (Beard) Johnson. She was a graduate of the Waverly High School Class of 1953. On February 12, 1954, she married Vernon P. Coyle and together they shared nearly sixty years of marriage. For many years, Phyllis worked as a bookkeeper for many area business. Her greatest pleasure was being surrounded by her family ~ she enjoyed traveling to see many races, attending her grandchildren sporting events and always gave with a willing heart. She will be greatly missed by her husband Vernon, her children, her son and daughter-in-law: Tim and Patti Coyle, her son Rick Coyle; her daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Paul Emerson all of Barton, NY; her special grandchildren: Jason Coyle, Tom Coyle, Chase Emerson and Katee Emerson; a sister and brother-in-law: Mary and Clint Benjamin of Odessa, NY; sister-in-law: Barbara Hoover of Waverly; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Marlene Coyle of Chemung. Phyllis was greeted and welcomed into heaven by her parents Ralph and Anna Johnson, her daughter-in-law Shari Coyle; brother Robert Johnson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Margaret and Rodney Myers; brother-in-law Robert Hoover. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 11-1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Phyllis' life will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Anne B. Canfield, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Barton Cemetery.
