Phyllis Jean (Campbell) Kester, born January 15, 1943, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025. Married for 62 years, she was blessed with a love that never faltered. Her devoted husband, Dale, remained faithfully by her side through every season of life.
Phyllis grew up in Litchfield, PA. One of ten children born to Harry and Eunice Campbell.
In May of 1963 she married the love of her life, Dale Kester.
In the spring of 1964, they were blessed with a daughter, Wanda.
Wanda was welcomed into Heaven in October of 1974 after a 3-year fight with leukemia.
In the shadows of incredible loss, they continued to build a life filled with love despite their hardships and pain. They became foster parents, opening their home and hearts to several children, and in 1978 they welcomed their daughter Leah into their family through adoption.
Becoming a grandmother to David in 1998 and Samantha in 2001 was something Phyllis put her whole heart into. Every visit, every shared moment was precious to her and her love for them will always be a treasured memory for them both.
Phyllis passed away peacefully after a long and difficult 13-year journey with Alzheimer’s. Even as the illness progressed, the strength of her heart and the depth of her love remained.
Finally free from confusion and pain, she rests in her Savior’s care, surrounded by light, love, and peace. There, she joins her parents, two brothers, a sister, and many dear family and friends who have gone before.
Her family finds comfort knowing that after 50 long and painful years, she is finally reunited with her beloved daughter.
A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main Street, Nichols, New York.
