Ralph E. Seymour, 84, formerly of Tioga Center, NY passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008 in Florida. He was born on January 2, 1924 in Tioga Center, NY a son of the late Earl and Edith (Stettler) Seymour. Affectionately remembered by his family and friends as "Newt" he spent his youth in Tioga Center and was drafted to serve his country during World War II with the US Army Air force. Newt was employed by IBM, Owego for 36 years. Following his retirement in 1979, he moved to Florida where he and his wife Joan owned and operated the Sun Glo Motel in Venice. Newt was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 159 in Florida; former member of the Antique Auto Association of the Southern Tier and a member of the National Antique Auto Association. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, attending flee markets, and puttering with antique cars and trucks. Newt is survived by his wife of 33 years Joan Seymour of Englewood, Florida; his daughter and son-in-law: Valerie and Dennis Platt of Nichols; a sister Verna Swimelar; sister-in-law: Betty Seymour both of Waverly; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and Joan's extended family also survive. He was predeceased by his daughter Vonda Seymour; son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Sandy Seymour; siblings: William (Irene) Seymour; Hilton (Betty) Seymour Irving Seymour; Evelyn (John) Miller; and a brother-in-law: LeRoy "June" Swimelar. Family and friends are invited to attend memorial service and celebration of Newt's life on Sunday, November 16th at 3 pm at the Nichols United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Martin, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of the service at the church. A memorial service will also be held at the Fellowship Bible Church in Venice, Florida at a later date.
