Raymond E. Babcock

Raymond E. Babcock, 94 Raymond E. Babcock, 94, of North Orwell, Pa passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2009 following a period of declining health. A life long resident and well respected farmer in North Orwell, Ray was born on June 30, 1915. He was the son of Guy and Lillian (Wickizer) Babcock. Ray loved to spend time on his farm where he enjoyed the countryside and the friendships of his neighbors the Nate Snyder Family and the Dennis "Skip" Thomas Family. Ray is survived by several nieces and nephews among them, his caretaker Dolores and Keith Lupole of Lisle, NY; Thomas and Dawn Babcock of VA; Jan and Robert Heater of Apalachin; Mary and Rog Lowe of Apalachin and Barbara O'Dell of Owego; several great niece and nephews also survive. Ray was predeceased by his wife Marion Neild Babcock in 1978, a infant son Roger in 1949; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jason (Sybil) Babcock; Henry (Gladys) Babcock, Emory (Genevieve) Babcock; Clarence (Wilma) Babcock; a sister and brother-in-law: Lena (Leonard) Ackley; special nephews and nieces: Ervin Babcock, Frank Ackley, Earl Babcock, Emory Babcock, Jr., Rev. Raymond Ackley, Elsie Crandall; Betty Tartanian. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service to celebrate and remember Ray's life on Thursday, July 9th at 2 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Rome Cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Thursday from 1 pm until the time of the service.
