Rex R. Gorsline, Sr., 73, of Windham Twp., (LeRaysville Road) Rome, Pa passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at his home. Rex was born on November 13, 1938 in Sayre, Pa a son of the late Rex R. and Dorothy (Spaulding) Gorsline. Rex attended Athens High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He proudly served his country from 1956 to 1959. Upon an honorable discharge from the Army, Rex was employed by Horn & Taylors in Sayre and later the Lehigh Valley Railroad. On July 1, 1961 he married Harriett A. Frantz and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Rex was an employee of AJAX Foundry and retired following 35 years of service. A talented craftsman, Rex enjoyed hand carving wooden items, enjoyed hunting and gunsmithing. He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time on the farm and being surrounded by his family. Rex is survived by his wife Harriett Frantz Gorsline; his children: Rex Gorsline, Jr; Karen (Jeremy) O'Hara; Lori Gorsline; and Wendy (Larry) LaDue. His sisters: Almeda (Ed) Wilmarth; Dolores Wheaton; Louise (Michael) Polzella; grandchildren: Camille, Nate and Brandan LaDue; his sisters-in-law: Ellen Selle and Ruth Frantz; brother-in-law: Karl Rude; a special friend who was like a daughter to him, Emily Brown; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Rex was predeceased by his parents; a brother Gerald Gorsline; a grandson Christopher Michael Gorsline; brother-in-law Walter Wheaton. A time of sharing and gathering for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 25 from 4 to 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols. During our time of sharing, we ask that you dress casual in jeans and your everyday clothes.
