Richard "Dick" E. Frye

July 17, 1938 — March 8, 2014

Surrounded by those whom he loved so dearly, Richard E. Frye, 75, of Acme Rd., Waverly, NY passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his home. Dick as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on July 17, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa a son of the late Dora (Hafer) and Joseph Wallner, Sr. He was a graduate of Waverly High School class of 1956 and proudly served his country with the US Air Force from 1961-1965. Dick owned a construction business for many years, designing and building many homes in the Southern Tier. He enjoyed a long retirement raising cattle and farming. His most recent project was remodeling and operating Sallie's Country Kitchen in Nichols. He will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Sallie Uettwiller, his children: Wade (Wendy Gahring) Frye; Duane Frye; Allan (Wendy) Uettwiller, Chris (Stacy) Uettwiller, Coral-lee Uettwiller; his special grandchildren: Alesha Uettwiller and Jonathan Smith; his sister Dona (Von) Saltsgiver; brothers Joseph (Linda) Wallner Jr., Michael (Mary) Wallner, Art (Colleen) Wallner, Paul (Jackie) Wallner; William (Loretta) Steele, sister-in-law Sandra Steele, numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive; along with many who knew Dick as "Gramps". Dick was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Dora Wallner and a brother John Steele. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5 -7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Dick's life will be held on Friday, March 14th at 11 am with Rev. Anne B. Canfield, officiating. Interment and prayers of committal will follow with military honors in the Barton Cemetery.
