Richard "Dick" F. Rogers Sr.

Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all……Richard F. Rogers, 79, of Waverly, NY passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013 following a period of declining health. Dick was born on April 6, 1934 in Lowville, NY a son of Leonard and Irene (Edick) Rogers. He was a graduate of General Martin High School in Glenfield, NY class of 1951. On November 14, 1964 he married Carol Fitts and together they shared nearly 49 years of marriage. Dick served as meat manager for P&C Foods for over 32 years. He was a member of the North Barton Grange, the Stateman's Chorus and the Lounsberry United Methodist Church. Dick treasured his family, was a talented carpenter and enjoyed handcrafting scroll work. His smile and gentle caring ways will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dick is survived by his wife Carol; his children: Teresa and Stosh Vicki; Richard and Angie Rogers II, and Julie and Mark Whipple; his special grandchildren: Adam Rogers, Amber Rogers, Ryan Vicki, Emily Whipple, Amy Whipple and Mark Whipple; great grandchildren: Ty, Dylan, Alexandria, Nateli. He was predeceased by his brothers Raymond and Ronald; a grandson Sgt. Justin Rogers. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 11-1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. Grange remembrances services will be conducted by the North Barton Grange #45 at 12:30pm Funeral services and a celebration of Dick's life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral chapel, with his pastor Rev. Jon Austin, officiating. Interment will follow in the Barton Center Cemetery. Following the services a time of sharing will be held at the North Barton Grange.
