"Dick" Rockefeller, 71, of Potterville (RR2, Rome, PA) passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 following a period of declining health. Dick was born on September 27, 1937 in Endicott, NY a son of the late Beatrice (Bowen) and Robert B. Rockefeller, Jr. He was a member of the first graduating class at Northeast Bradford High School in 1956. On September 27, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Wilbur and they have celebrated nearly 51 years of happiness. Dick was a member of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ, the LeRay Masonic Lodge #471 and the LeRaysville Order of Eastern Star 498. Dick was an employee of the Howdy Jones Construction Company, for many years. In 1987, he began his own business, Dick Rockefeller Excavating, Inc. He was truly dedicated to his business and treasured the time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife Shirley (Wilbur) Rockefeller; son and daughter-in-law: Randy and Sharon Rockefeller all of Rome, Pa; brother and sister-in-law: Ronald R. and Janice Rockefeller of Surprise, AZ; mother-in-law Eva Wilbur; Pa; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Arlyn and Arlene Wilbur all of LeRaysville, Pa; sisters-in-law: Helen Lillian Rockefeller of Endicott, NY; Edna Marshall of Susquehanna, Pa; nephews: Dennis (Kim) Rockefeller of Endicott, NY; Jeffrey Wilbur of Herrickville, Pa; nieces: Susan (Robert) Perez of Houston, TX; Robin (William) Huizinga of Willseyville, NY; several great nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Dick was predeceased by his parents Robert and Beatrice Rockefeller and a niece Penny Rafferty. A memorial service and celebration of Dick's life will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 10 am at the Potterville United Church of Christ with Rev. Karen Ballard, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd from 6 to 9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
