Richard P. Brink, 86, of Barton, took Jesus by the hand and crossed the finish line on Saturday, December 21, 2019 following a period of declining health. A lifelong dairy farmer, Dick, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was a loving husband, an awesome dad, a terrific grandpa, a great grandpa and a loving brother. His smile and caring heart will remain with us forever. Dick was born on July 20, 1933 in Newark Valley, NY a son of the late Julia (Palmer) and Harry Brink, Jr. He was a graduate of Newark Valley High School class of 1953. After high school, Dick got a job as a surveyor at the Naval Air Weapons Station in China Lake, CA. In 1955, he was drafted to serve his country with the US Army. Dick served as a Tank Commander in Germany and Fort Hood. Following an honorable discharge in 1961, Dick joined his family in the operation of the family dairy farm in Newark Valley. On July 14, 1962 in Hobart, NY he married Patricia Post and together they have shared 57 years of marriage. In 1985, Dick and Pat moved to Barton and established the Brink Farm with their family. Dick treasured his family and always looked forward to traveling, spending time on the boat, hunting, snowmobiling although his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by family. He was also a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and loved his Smithboro church family Dick will be greatly missed by his wife Patricia; his children: Gary and his wife Carolyn Brink of New Woodstock, NY; Renee and her husband Scott Thomas; Keith and his wife Tami Brink all of Barton, NY; his special grandchildren: Patrick (Deanna) Brink, Justin (Michelle) Brink, Dylan (Corina) Brink; Sherilyn (Ronnie) Parker, Colleen (Grady) Ballard, Bradly Brink (Sierra Kimes); Leandra (Michael) Guy; Kegan (Kelby) Brink; six great grandchildren: Eliza Brink, Declan Brink Isabella Ballard, Carley Guy, Cady Brink and Evelyn Brink; a sister Priscilla Smith of Harrisburg, PA; a brother-in-law: Robert Brown of Lucana, NC; several nieces, nephews, and their families also survive. Dick was greeted and welcomed into heaven by his parents; his siblings: Harold Brink, Rebecca Brown and Carl Brink. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, December 27th from 10 to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of a life well lived for Dick will be held on Friday at noon at the funeral chapel.
