Richard E. Ross, known affectionately as Dick to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Orwell Twp., Rome, Pennsylvania, on October 17, 2024. Born on the last day of 1955 in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Dick's journey through life was marked by his unwavering kindness, faith, and love for those around him. He was a beacon of strength and compassion, touching the lives of many with his gentle spirit.
Dick was a proud graduate of Northeast Bradford High School's class of 1974. His early career was spent at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Factory, where he dedicated 20 years of service. Later, his expertise as a Pressman led him to esteemed positions at Creative Printing and Curcio Printing. His professional life was a testament to his hard work and commitment to excellence.
A man of profound faith, Dick served diligently as a deacon at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sayre. His dedication to his church community was a reflection of his deep-rooted belief in service and fellowship. Dick and his beloved wife Deborah, who preceded him in death, shared a passion for classic cars, regularly attending car shows to exhibit their cherished 1974 Camaro. Dick's love for vintage automobiles also shone through in his meticulous restoration of his prized 1973 Cuda.
Dick's love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of nature's splendor. He found solace in the simple task of cutting wood, ensuring his family's warmth through the winter months. His daughter's visits with her dogs were a source of joy, as they shared life's experiences and supported one another through life's ebbs and flows.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bob Nero; his son, Joshua Ross; his cherished grandchildren, Dakota (Nate) Hoke, Hunter (Jamie) Nero, and Mason Ross. His brother and sister-in-law, Karl and Barb Ross; his mother-in-law, Lucille Chrispell; and the extended family of his late wife Deborah, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and their families, will remember him fondly. Dick was predeceased by his parents, Elwin and Gladys (Cook) Ross, his loving wife, Deborah Chrispell Ross, his sister Pat, and his brother Kenneth.
Dick's life can be encapsulated in the words of Mother Teresa: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." His everyday actions were a living example of this philosophy, as he approached each day with loving kindness and a faith-filled heart.
