Softly in the morning you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all….Our hearts were broken on Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014 when Ricky G. Howe, 56, of Barton and formerly of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa passed away. Rick as he was known by his family and friends was born on October 15, 1957 in Troy, Pa a son of LaVerne M. Howe and Beverly Carrington. He was a graduate of Troy High School and for many years was a butcher at Ted Clark's Busy Market. In addition he also drove school bus for the Owego Apalachin School District and First Transit in Nichols. Most recently, Rick worked at Advanced Auto Sales in Sayre, Pa. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, taking walks and treasured his time spent with Tina. Rick is survived by his caregiver and best friend Tina Bishop of Barton; his father LaVerne M. Howe and his companion Daisy Pruyne of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa; his mother Beverly Brown of Horseheads; his siblings: Bonnie (Ronald) Austin of Columbia Cross Roads; Terry D. Howe of Horseheads; Jody D. (Wendy) Howe of Troy, Pa; Garry L. Howe of Pine Grove, Pa; LeeAnn (Jason) Aubin of Newfield, NY; his aunts Esther Haynes of Horseheads, NY; Vera Battisti of Tucson, AZ; Linda Tanner of Elgin, SC; and step sisters and step brothers: Susan Hutchinson of Endicott, NY; Dennis (Doreen) Webster of Phoenix, AZ; Karen (Kenny) Crandall of Phoenix, AZ; Mark (Peggy) Webster of Bismarck, ND; many friends among them his cancer survivor and Christian friends Liz and Bud; several nieces, nephews and their families, five cousins and his canine companions Jasmine and Ginger. Rick was predeceased by his step mother Doris Howe on January 11, 2003; step father David Brown October 17, 2009. You will never be forgotten, we pledge to you today, a hallowed place within our hearts, is where you'll always stay. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Friday, March 28th from 1-2 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of his life will follow at 2 pm.
