No farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye, you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why…..Robert A. Thresher, 50, of Waverly passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Robert Packer Hospital. He was born on January 13, 1966 in Waverly the son of Joan (Zimmer) and the late Richard E. Thresher. Robert was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1984. Following graduation he enlisted into the US Navy and proudly served his country from 1984 to 1988 as a Aviation Technician on the Carrier Kitty Hawk ~ where he toured around the world twice. In 1989, following a honorable discharge he continued his education at Penn State studying Engineering. Robert was currently employed by Staver Hydraulics in Sayre and was previously employed at area businesses to include: Masco Cabinetry, Wade Electrical, Sikorsky Aircraft, McDonald Contracting, Palmer Mobile Homes, Tire-Land USA, Altech Electronics, G. Webster Inc. and Lockheed Martin. A knowledgeable computer programmer, Robert also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his mom, Joan (Zimmer) Thresher of Athens; his brother and sister-in-law: Michael C. and Clarice Thresher of Sykesville, MD; a special aunt Betty Bradley of Waverly; his niece and nephew: Noelle and Benjamin Thresher. Robert was welcomed and greeted by his father Richard E. Thresher, who preceded him on December 28, 2015. Abiding with the families wishes there will be no services. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Jillson Cemetery. Donations can be made in Robert's name to the American Heart Association.
