You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide tho' we can not see you, you are always by our side. Surrounded by his family, Robert C. Proof, 68, of Homets Ferry, (RR 4, Wyalusing, Pa) passed away to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 12, 2009. Lovingly known and remembered as "Bob" he was born on October 7, 1940 in Sayre, Pa a son of the late Wilson and Dorothy (Dodge) Proof. Bob was a graduate of Wyalusing High School Class of 1959. Following high school, he entered into the US Navy where he proudly served his country as a Petty Officer. He was a Special Chemical Operator at Osram-Sylvania and retired in 1997 following 32 years of service. Bob was an avid Civil War history buff, enjoyed bird watching and being surrounded by Mother Nature's greatest pleasures. He was a volunteer for the Wyalusing Volunteer Fire Company and also served as a volunteer at Park Place in Wyalusing. Bob is survived by his wife of fifteen years, Peggy Harford Proof; daughter and son-in-law Ann-Rae and William Travis all of Wyalusing, Pa; son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Theresa Wheeler of Windham, Pa; a sister Evelyn Kerschner of Endicott; three grandchildren: Kevin Wheeler, Faith Rae and Grace Irene Travis; special friends: Paula nd Gerard McKernan of New Albany; Alan Vanderpool of Camptown; John Timothy Kelly of E. Smithfield and Carlton Wiggins of Stevensville. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and his canine companion "Toby" also survive. Bob was predeceased by his parents Wilson and Dorothy Proof; brothers Myron "Bill" Proof and Donald Proof. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service and celebration of Bob's life on Wednesday, September 16th at 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
