Robert L. Sherman

Robert L. Sherman, III, 68, of Tuttle Road, Nichols, New York passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Bob as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on December 3 1938 in West Union, NY a son of Velma and the late Robert Sherman. He was a graduate of Alfred Almond High School and following graduation enlisted into the US Navy. Bob was a retired employee for Maines Paper and Foods and formerly served as Highway Superintendent in Hornell, NY. He enjoyed bowling, tennis, baseball, a good game of scrabble. Although, his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family. He was always willing to share a story and enjoyed hearing about his children's and grandchildren's daily activities. His memory will live within our hearts forever. In addition to his mother Velma, he is survived by his wife of twenty-four years Hazel, his daughters and son-in-law: Kathleen and Michael Mott, Ginger Best. His Sons and daughters-in-law: Robert "Skip" and Kristy Sherman, Zane and Gin Best, Bernard and Jessica Best, George Best. His brothers and sister-in-law: Mike and Teaka Sherman, Leon Sherman; his sisters and brothers-in-law: Roberta and Robert Sutton, Betty Stevens, Shirley Sherman, Mary Lou and Dick Kiezle, Cindy and Dave Crosby; fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. A time of remembering the special gift Bob was to all of us will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 12 noon at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with Pastor Dan Martin, officiating. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the services.
