Robert Anthony Skope, a man known for his kind spirit and friendly demeanor, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Owego on March 18, 2026. Born on October 4, 1978, in Johnson City, NY, Robert's journey through life was one marked by a profound love for his family, a passion for the outdoors, and a talent for working with his hands.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Isabell Ann Skope; his son, Anthony; his father, John Skope; his sisters, Danielle Lelik (Cal Burlingame) and Yvette Skope; and his nieces and nephew, Madyson Armstrong, Andrew and Adin Lelik. His life was enriched by the presence of his faithful feline companion, Ashton and his dear neighbor Jamie held a special place in his heart too. Robert was predeceased by his cherished mother and stepfather, Elizabeth "Betty" and Dale Keir, and his aunt and uncle, Edie and Gary Mottern.

Robert held a special place in the hearts of his family. His ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering will be deeply missed. Despite the challenges he faced due to his seizures, which prevented him from working, Robert's resilient spirit shone through. He had a knack for finding treasures at yard sales, always ready to "make a deal," and his handiness made him the go-to person for fix-it jobs.

A lover of the great outdoors, Robert found solace in fishing and simply being outside, where he felt most at home. His connection to nature was a source of peace and contentment throughout his life. Robert's love for his mother was immense, and her passing left a void in his heart that was felt by all who knew him.

His big heart extended beyond his family, touching the lives of many through his work raising and training Seeing Eye dogs. This endeavor not only showcased his compassionate nature but also his patience and dedication to helping others.

Robert could indeed be goofy at times and set in his ways, but those who loved him knew that at the end of the day, his heart was as big as the smile he often wore. His presence was a gift to those around him, and his absence will be felt deeply.
