Rodney Scott Cook

December 16, 1953 — May 12, 2024

Rodney Scott Cook, a man known for his generosity, friendliness, and handy skills, left this world peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2024, at his home in Litchfield, Pennsylvania. Born on December 16, 1953, in Towanda, PA, Rodney's 70 years on earth were a rich tapestry of adventures, relationships, and simple pleasures.

Rodney was the beloved brother of Joy and Michael Drake of Litchfield; Rex Cook of Florida Barry and Kathy Bowen of Windham; Lois and Terry Gray of Windham; Gale and Tammy Bowen of Windham; Dale Bowen and Missy Schultz of Athens and Terry Bowen of Towanda

He was a cherished uncle to Kelly Renfore, Tammy Daniel, both of Florida, and Jill and David Vough, and Kasey LaBarre, both of Rome. His life was further enriched by many extended nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as his caring uncle and aunt, Clarence and Dora Cook. Rodney's was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Anna Bowen, James I. Cook, and his brothers, Ronald Cook and Robert Bowen.

Rodney was a graduate of Northeast Bradford High School, where he cultivated lifelong friendships with classmates like Steve Moore, Pete Murray, and Gail Hilfiger. These bonds remained close throughout his life, a testament to the enduring nature of true friendship.

His professional life was as diverse as it was fulfilling. Rodney's journey took him down the East Coast, with significant time spent in North Carolina and Florida. There, he dedicated several years to caring for his ex-mother-in-law until he himself fell ill in 2022. Throughout his life, Rodney tackled various roles with vigor, from car racing and carpentry to car body repair and an array of other odd jobs. His willingness to lend a hand without expectation of reward endeared him to many.

His zest for life and his hobbies brought him joy and camaraderie. Rodney found a good friend in Joe Drake when he returned to Litchfield. They worked together on the Drake farm, where their robust debates and shared laughter were a common sight. Rodney was also an avid golfer, a passion that connected him with many friends both in Florida and Pennsylvania.

Rodney's life philosophy could be summed up by the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." Rodney embodied this ethos, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him.

We remember Rodney not just for the things he did, but for the person he was: a man who could fix anything, who always had a smile to share, and whose generosity knew no bounds. His presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him.
