Ronald E. Richter

Softly in the morning you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all…. Ronald E. Richter, 84, of Sayre and formerly of Nichols passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday morning, September 5, 2018 at his home. Ron was born on September 9, 1933 in Canton, Pa a son of the late Charles Adam and Clara Lillian (Johonnis) Richter. He was a graduate of Troy High School. Ron continued his education at Rochester Business Institute and later received his Bachelors from St. Bonaventure. Ron retired in 1992 following thirty-five years as an accountant with IBM. He enjoyed gardening, genealogy and traveling although his greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family. His smile was infectious and when anyone around him saw the smile, they too, had to smile and laugh. We will always love and remember that special smile and kindness you had shown to us all. Ron is survived by his wife of 26 years, Judy Ann Richter; his children: Dana (Penny) Richter, Laura (Jim) McDuffee, Brenda (Kevin) Evanek; Holly (Glenn) Klett, Kim (Fabian) Forero, Tammy (Jeff) Slocum; his grandchildren: Allyson, Christian, Rebekah, Eric (Courtney), Kara, Anna, Jacob, Brooke, Nathan, Megan, Aaron, Kathryn, Connor, Fabian, Tyler, Hugh and Zach. Several nieces, nephews, and special friends also survive. Ron was predeceased by his parents and his first wife Helen Friedrichsen Richter. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Friday, September 7th from 5 to 7 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols and on Saturday, September 8th from 2 to 3 pm at the Owego Nazarene Church. A memorial service and celebration of his life will follow at 3 pm with his Pastor Phillip Nase, officiating.
