Rhonda ‘Ronnie’ Seeley of Trappe, MD passed away at Talbot Hospice on Sunday morning, September 18, 2022 after a courageous battle with multiple cancers. She was an avid reader, a devoted friend and sister, and a thoughtful kind person. Ronnie had a lifelong interest in Ancient Egypt and traveled to experience the country and pyramids in person.
She was born in Johnson City, New York to Gladys and Walter ‘Mike’ Seeley. Ronnie grew up in Nichols, graduating from Tioga Center High School and attending SUNY Cortland as a Chemistry major. She was accepted into the Medicinal Chemistry Phd. program at the University of Buffalo. Ronnie enjoyed working in the hospital laboratory so much she switched to a Master’s degree program instead.
She came to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to take a position as the Clinical Chemist in what was then Dorchester General Hospital. Ronnie remained a vital part of the ever changing laboratory for 35 years. Growing up as a mechanic’s daughter, the maintenance and repair of the complex laboratory equipment was in her blood. Even joking with her dad that the repairs she performed didn’t leave grease under her fingernails.
Ronnie is survived by five younger siblings; Mikolleen Patterson, Saralene Hunt (Kevin), Roxanne Dolinich (Bernie), Michael ‘Buzz’ Seeley (Andrea), and James Seeley (Crystal). She maintained a home in Nichols that was affectionately known as the Christmas House. Every year she traveled up to Nichols to celebrate the holiday with her vast extended family of siblings, nieces and nephews in a house where the Christmas decorations stayed up in anticipation of the next year’s celebration.
Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, September 26th from 3 to 4 pm. Ronnie will be laid to rest next to her parents in the Riverside Cemetery in Lounsberry, NY. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com.
