Rowland "Mike" Crossett

Softly in the morning, you heard a gentle call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all.....Rowland O. "Mike" Crossett, 96, of Waverly, NY passed away on Friday morning, October 26, 2018 at the Elderwood Health Care Facility in Waverly. Mike was born on February 2, 1922 in Sayre, Pennsylvania a son of the late William M. and Amanda (Hoffman) Crossett. A veteran of the US Army, Mike served his country during WWII. He was a long time employee of the Ingersoll Rand in Athens. Mike was a devoted member of the North Waverly Chapel; the North Barton Grange; a member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of Eastern Star. Mike treasured his family and always looked forward to seeing his grandchildren. Mike is survived by his daughter-in-law: Kay VanHorn of Waverly; a sister-in-law Barbara Crossett; his special grandchildren: Michael VanHorn, Mark VanHorn, Mitchell VanHorn, Melissa Lougher, Matthew VanHorn, and Marcy Burgess; ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive, Mike was predeceased by his parents; his wife Florence "Sally" Crossett; his son Clarence VanHorn; siblings: James "Jimmy" Crossett, William "Jr" Crossett, Wilton "Buster" Crossett, Carl "Chub" Crossett, Carlyle "Tuffy" Crossett and a sister Alberta "Bertie" Sherman. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Mike's life on Saturday, November 3rd at 2 pm at the North Waverly Chapel, 40 State Route 34, Waverly, NY Interment and prayers of committal will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery, Waverly.
