Ruth A. Kowalewski

A mother holds her children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever….Our loving mother Ruth A. Kowalewski, 86, of Nichols, NY went home to be with her Lord and was reunited with her loving husband Vincent on Friday morning, December 5, 2008. Ruth is survived by her children: Anna (Earl) Hunt of Albany; Stephen (Jill) Kowalewski of Cortland; Ruthe (Frank) Williams of Nichols; Rachel (Nathan) Hare of Vestal; Lois (Fred) Crown of Owego; Rebecca (Daniel) Moore of Cope, SC; Timothy (Rebecca) Kowalewski of Estill, SC; thirteen grandchildren among them her granddaughter and caregiver Sara Moore; twenty-one great grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew also survive. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Vincent on May 8, 2005. Ruth was born on January 6, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ the only child of the late Anton C. and Louise A. (Leidenberg) Frey. Ruth was employed as a graphic artist with the Owego Pennysaver for nearly twenty-five years. Over these years, she developed many friendships and enjoyed corresponding with family and friends near and far. She was a member of the Owego Choral Society, Friends of the Cady Library and enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. A memorial service and celebration of Ruth's life will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A period of visitation and time for sharing memories will be held on Saturday from 12 noon until the time of the service.
