Live Well, Laugh Often, Love Much…..Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend Ruth Allis Rogers, 91, of LeRaysville, Pa passed away on Thursday, January 8th, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor following a period of declining health. Ruth was born on February 10, 1923 in Allis Hollow, Rome, Township, Pa a daughter of the late Bert S. and Florence (Mitten) Allis. She attended school in Orwell and was a graduate of the LeRaysville High School class of 1942. Following high school, Ruth attended beauty school and owned and opered Ruth's Beauty Shop in her home for sixteen years. Then she worked at the Northeast Bradford High School cafeteria from which she retired after sixteen years.On October 5, 1946, she married George E. Rogers, together they celebrated 62 years of marriage until his passing on November 24, 2008. Ruth and George were devoted members of the Dille Parish United Church of Christ. Over time Ruth had been an officer or participant on almost every committee in the church and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Ruth was a basketball player at heart. She played in school and then became a loyal fan of all Northeast Bradford High School sports. She loved music and was always a participant in the LeRaysville Minstrel, church choir, and community musical groups. Ruth was an avid walker and could always be seen taking a least one daily walk around town. She was always volunteering her time for community events and for the good of others. Ruth is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Jeannine L. and Ronald Woolbert of Dallas, Pa; Sandra and Greg Balchikonis of Warren Center, Pa; her sons and daughter-in-law: Jerry and Shari Rogers of Lakewood Beach, Fl; Michael L. Rogers of Warren Center, Pa; a special nephew: George A. Rogers and his daughter, Carrie of LeRaysville, Pa; nine grandchildren: Melanie (Chad) Sparbanie, Kelly Jo (Tanya Potcova) Gallagher, Brett (Lindsley) Rogers, Brooke (Ivan) Davis, Kristy (Brian) Miller, Chad (Danielle Jones) Woolbert, Jessica (Ryan) Eisenhart, Jeremy (Jennifer) Balchikonis, Jacob Balchikonis. Her great grandchildren: Bradley, Cameron and Olivia Sparbanie, Jordan and Jayleen Eisenhart, Heath, Zoe and Nora Miller, Zaden, Kellam, Landrie, and Avett Rogers, and Gavin and Maya Davis. Ruth was predeceased by her husband George, her siblings: Kathryn McPherson, Wilma Allis, Marion Allis, Vernon Allis and Paul Allis. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Tuesday, January 13th from 10 to 12 pm at the Dille Parish United Church of Christ, LeRaysville, Pa. Funeral services and a celebration of Ruth's life will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Tom Burlington, officiating. Interment will be held at the families convenience in the Stevens Cemetery.
