Ruth E. Pratt

Silently we grieve and brush away the tears. The memories that you left behind will last throughout the years….Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend Ruth E. (Burgess) Pratt, 84, formerly of Weltonville and currently residing in Windsor, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009. Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Donald and Linda Warner of Owego; a brother and sister-in-law William and Jennie Burgess of Berkshire; a very special uncle Harold Kithcart, with whom she resided with. Her grandchildren: Deborah Warner of Georgia; David and his wife Loretta Warner of Texas; great grandchildren: Adam Warner of Owego; Benjamin Bates of Georgia; Kaitlyn Warner of Nichols; several nieces, nephews also survive along with her feline friend "Bootsie". A special thank you to all the caring angels at Lourdes ICU, the care and love you gave to mom will always be treasured with us. Ruth was predeceased by her parents and siblings Luella Rogers, Jennie Roupp, Richard Burgess, Charles Burgess and a half brother Francis Hyde. Ruth was born on November 28, 1924 in Nichols a daughter of Howard Benjamin and Myrtle Bell (Conklin) Burgess. For many years she owned and operated Pratt's Grocery Store in Weltonville. She enjoyed going out to eat, listening to wind chimes, and especially treasured the time visiting with family and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services and a celebration of Ruth's life on Wednesday, January 28th at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 South Main St., Nichols with family friend and Pastor Nelda Lynch, officiating. Interment will be in the spring in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral chapel.
