Shirley W. Baker

Softly in the morning, you heard a gently call, you took the hand God offered you and quietly left us all…..Shirley W. Baker, 78, Waverly, NY passed away on July 9, 2013 following a period of declining health. Shirley was born on October 28, 1934 in Sayre, Pa a daughter of the late Nelson and Clara (Hess) Wright. She was a graduate of Waverly High School class of 1953. Shirley was a long time supervisor for Westinghouse. She enjoyed knitting, completing puzzles, painting, sunflowers and spending time with her great granddaughter Stephanie. Shirley will be greatly missed by her sister and brother-in-law: Phyllis and Arthur DuBois of Coudersport, Pa; her granddaughter Mary Baker of Waverly; former daughter-in-law Holly Baker (Richard Kopacko) of Horseheads; sisters-in-law: Janice and Thomas Savino of Elmira; Marla Decker of Waverly; Carol Weston of Elmira; brother-in-law Glenn Baker and his wife Linda; several nieces and nephews among them: Brent and Claudia Mitchell of Pine City; Susan Coon of Athens; her great grandchildren: Stephanie and Teyten; a special friend Dolly Smith of Waverly; and her cat "Sky" also survive. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1997; her son Craig in 2009; sister Betty Mitchell; sister-in-law and best friend June McClure. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Sunday, July 14th from 12-1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of Shirley's life will follow at 1 pm at the funeral chapel with Pastor Jon Austin of the Lounsberry United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Bradford County Memorial Park Cemetery, Luthers Mills.
