Tammy L. Grant
of Tioga Center
Tammy L. Grant, affectionately known as Tammy, passed away peacefully at her home in Tioga Center, NY, on August 23, 2024, at the age of 63. Born on September 8, 1960, in Johnson City, NY, she was a daughter to the late Roger and Alice (Hudson) Brown and grew up surrounded by the love and camaraderie of her siblings.
Tammy's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. She shared a beautiful life with her husband, Joseph N. Grant, Sr., and together they raised a family that was the center of her world. Her children, Joey (Jessica) Grant, Ryan Grant, and Brooke Grant, brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. As "Mimi" to her grandchildren, Landon, Layla, Brenden, Nathan, Logan, Jocelyn, and Jamison, she exuded warmth and kindness, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Her sisters, Diane Gray, Nancy Brown, and Judy (Bob) Frederick, along with her special cousin Rhonda (Bob) Bartlett, shared in the journey of her life, and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins found in her a generous heart and a spirited companion. Though her brothers, Gary and Jeff, preceded her in death, the bond they shared lives on in the stories and laughter that echo in the hearts of those who knew them.
Tammy was a proud graduate of Athens High School, where she carried the spirit of the Bull Dogs with her long after her school days had ended. Her support for the Tioga sports teams was unwavering, a testament to her community spirit. Her passion for life was matched only by her love for the Dallas Cowboys. Tammy's enthusiasm for her favorite team was infectious, and game days at her home were lively gatherings filled with cheer and camaraderie. She was the heart of every party, her laughter and joy elevating the spirits of all who were present.
Her working life saw her in various roles, each reflecting her nurturing nature and commitment to service. As a custodian at Tioga Central, she was a familiar and friendly face to many. In addition, she also worked in the kitchen at the Barstow House in Nichols. However, her most fulfilling role was opening her home and heart to care for children, a vocation that allowed her to share her abundant love, kindness and her hugs with her little friends.
A woman of many interests, Tammy found joy in the simplicity of life. She loved to connect with friends and family on Facebook, where she also enjoyed playing games. Summers were spent by the pool, where she relaxed and watched her grandchildren swim, soaking up the sun and creating cherished memories. Tammy was a pillar of support, especially for her grandson Nathan, as she will continue to cheer him on when he plays Tioga football.
Those who knew Tammy will remember her as a loving, kind, and friendly presence, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. A service will be held at a later date. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting her guest book at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
Tammy's life was a beautiful mosaic of love, friendship, and community. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of many, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to feel the warmth of her presence. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless ways she enriched our lives.
