Terry Lynn Hatch

of Candor, NY

Terry Lynn Hatch, a beacon of warmth and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023, in Sayre, PA. Born on October 24, 1966, Terry was a beacon of friendliness and joy throughout her 57 years of life. Terry's life was marked by the love she shared and the joy she brought to those around her. Her infectious smile and compassionate spirit will be cherished in memory by all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Candor High School's Class of 1984, Terry carried the values of friendship and community throughout her life. Her dedication to serving others was evident in her work, most notably as a beloved waitress at Reese's Family Restaurant and her pivotal role in the opening of the Extra Mart in Sayre. Her presence at these establishments was not just about service but about creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.

Terry's love for life was paralleled by her love for her family. She is survived by her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Tyler and Angel Haskins, and Kyle and Courtney Haskins. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her grandchildren: Tyler Jr., Carson, Alyvia, Ian, Beau, Harvey, Katorina, Rylin, and Terryn, who were the twinkling stars in her sky. Her guidance and love will continue to shape their lives in the years to come.

Her mother, Frieda Platt, her brother and sister-in-law, John Jr. and Melissa Platt, and her sister Stacy Jeffries, will miss her deeply. Her family circle extended to her aunts and uncles, Sandy & Charlie Reese, Pat & Alfie Wendela, Rich & Vicki Wagner, Donna & Tim Bennett, and her special Aunt Ellen Platt. Terry's spirit will live on through the laughter and stories shared among her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Terry was predeceased by her father John Platt, Sr., brother Roger Platt, her daughter Katlin Nicole Haskins, and special uncle Ted Platt. Terry is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

An avid New York Yankees fan, Terry's enthusiasm for the game was infectious. She found joy in simple pleasures, like playing pitch with friends at various VFW, Moose Clubs, and American Legions. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her country rides alongside her dear friend Debbie Martin, where laughter and conversation flowed as easily as the breeze. She cherished moments spent listening to country music and sharing a cold beer with friends, creating memories that will echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Described by those who knew her best as loving, friendly, and kind, Terry embodied the essence of a life well-lived. She proved that it's not the years in our life that count, but the life in our years, a sentiment beautifully captured by the words of Abraham Lincoln.
