Todd Allen Messinger, a beacon of love and joy, passed away peacefully at his home in Nichols, NY, on November 29, 2024, at the age of 56. Born on June 2, 1968, in Elmira, NY, he was a man whose life was characterized by warmth, kindness, and an enduring affection for those around him.
Todd faced many health challenges throughout his life, yet he conquered each with a resilience that inspired everyone he met. Despite these challenges, he successfully graduated from Elmira High School, a testament to his determination and strength of spirit. Although Todd was disabled and unable to work, he found great joy and purpose in the simple pleasures of life.
Family was the cornerstone of Todd's life. He was deeply cherished by his brother and sister-in-law, Ricky Sr. and Trish West, who provided him with loving care. He will also be missed by his brother David West, Jr., and sister-in-law Mandy Oliver. Todd's love extended to his nieces and nephews—Kerry Messinger, Richard West, Jr., Alex West, Amber Chase, and Austin Barren-Nichols, alongside his fiancée Maggie—who all held a special place in his heart. His great-nieces and nephews—Landon Carter, Brielle "Shug”, Zeke and Paul Chase, Gianna DelFavero, and Oakley “Scoot” Barren-Nichols—brought immense joy and youthful exuberance to his life. Todd also shared a deep and meaningful friendship with Angel Litwhiler and Jeri Holden, whose companionship enriched his days. He is now reunited in heaven with his mother Margaret West and brother Jimmy Messinger, Jr.
Todd's interests painted a picture of one who embraced life with enthusiasm. A devout fan of the caped crusader, Batman, and the king of rock 'n' roll, Elvis Presley, Todd found great pleasure in the worlds of heroes and music. He loved watching movies, with a particular fondness for a good scary movie, which he watched with gleeful anticipation. The holidays were a time of great celebration for Todd, a season he approached with excitement and joy, making his absence this Christmas felt all the more deeply by those who loved him.
Bowling alleys echoed with his laughter, and dance floors were livelier for his presence. Todd's singing brought a smile to many faces, and his love for fire trucks and donuts was well-known and endearing. His spirit was infectious, and his ability to find happiness in the everyday moments was a lesson in gratitude for all.
We will gather on Todd’s birthday, June 2, 2025 to celebrate his life. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting his guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
Todd's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. As we say goodbye, we carry forward the lessons he taught through his example: to cherish family, to find joy in the simple things, and to greet each day with a loving heart. Todd, you will be sorely missed, but your spirit will continue to dance, sing, and brighten the lives of those you touched forever.
