formerly of Rome, Pa

Una R. Pitcher, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, in Edgewater, Florida, at the age of 88. Born on April 30, 1935, in Warren Center, Pennsylvania, Una's life was a tapestry of warm memories and enduring relationships.

Una's journey through life was marked by her loving nature and her thoughtful presence. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who brought comfort and joy to all who knew her. Una's husband, Ralph Pitcher, and her sons, Raymond and Randy Ward, predeceased her, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her sister, Darlene (Leon) Allis, also preceded her in passing.

Though she faced loss, Una's heart remained full with the love of her surviving family members. Her sisters, Sandra (James) Merrell and her brother, Sonny Weaver, along with her children, Sherry (Guy) Allis, Joanne (Jack) Ostrander, Ricky (Theresa) Ward, and Peter (Shug) Rieg, will forever hold her in their hearts. Una was a beloved matriarch to her 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom was a source of immense pride and happiness. Her numerous nieces and nephews also carry with them the fond memories of their aunt's unwavering support and affection.

Una's professional life was as varied as it was fulfilling. Over the years, she found joy and purpose working at Stackmore Furniture in Owego, Endicott Johnson, IBM, and Chenango Industries. Her dedication and work ethic were matched only by her compassion and kindness towards her colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Una's passions painted a vibrant picture of who she was. She had an enduring love for playing cards, a pastime that brought laughter and camaraderie into her home. From her childhood days through her adult life, Una's love of horses remained a constant source of joy. Her cherished horses, Duke and Dutches, were not just pets but companions that brought her peace and a sense of connection to her roots in Warren Center.

As we remember Una, we are reminded of the words of Helen Keller: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." Indeed, Una's loving, thoughtful, and kind spirit has become an indelible part of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy of love and the gentle touch of her kindness will continue to echo through the generations.
