Verna Miller

Verna Whitmore Miller April 11, 1937 - July 8, 2021 Dahlonega, GA, formerly from Owego, NY Verna was born on April 11, 1937 in Apalachin, NY to Lavern and Myra Whitmore. Verna was a very strong person and handled anything life threw her way. Verna worked in Tioga County Cooperative Extensive as a receptionist and was involved with 4H and cooking with kids in the summer time. She retired there in 1998. Verna then volunteered at a local food bank and soon started working there part time. She was very active in her church and would call Bingo at the senior center. Verna loved being with family and enjoyed her nightly ice cream. Verna spent her last 2 years at Dahlonega Assisted Living in GA where she grew very close to Karen Spors and Wendy Wood. The family wants to thank all of them for the wonderful care of Verna. Verna was predeceased by her parents; her daughter Bonnie; and her brothers: Terry, John, and Gary Whitmore. Verna is survived by her son William (Debi) Miller, her daughters: Judi Brown and Peggy (Jim) Corder; her grandchildren: Robin (Paul), Ryan, Chrissy (Ben), Brandi, Val (Chris), Logan (Lauren), and Stuart; her great grandchildren: Kylee (Chris), Isaac (Kristen), Alexis, Briana, Blake, Anna, Elliott, and Myra; her great-great- grandsons: James Paul and Isaac Jr.; her brothers: Myron (Shirley), Ronald (Norma), and Paul (Dianne); several nieces and nephews and many friends. A celebration of Verna's life will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 5 pm at the Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland, GA. There will be a livestream for family and friends who are unable to attend. Verna will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family there will be a graveside burial at Tioga Cemetery in Owego, NY.
