Vincent B. Oropello

On Saturday, May 29, 2010 with his daughter and her family at his side, Vincent B. Oropello, 89, passed away peacefully to his heavenly home and went to be reunited with his loving wife, Marjorie. Vincent is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Ann and Mel Schrader of Nichols; son and daughter-in-law Ralph and Judy Oropello of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a sister Dorothy Ranucci of Scotch Plains, NJ; granddaughters: Sarah, Stacey and Tori; sister-in-law: Ann (Peter) Gillette of Orlando, Fla; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Vincent was predeceased by his wife Marjorie on February 17, 1989 and his sister Marietta Bianco. He was born on May 4, 1921 in Susquehanna, Pa a son of the late Ralph and Nancy (Piersanti) Oropello. Vincent proudly served during WWII with the US Army in Europe and Africa. For many years, Vincent was employed as a lab technician for IBM-Owego and retired in 1984. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, Owego; IBM Quarter Century Club, Nichols American Legion; and a former member of the Owego Elks. Vincent enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and was an avid reader. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Tuesday, June 1st from 7 to 9 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
