Walter B. French, affectionately known as Walt to his friends and family, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Litchfield on November 10, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on March 8, 1962, in Sayre, PA, Walt was a man of great humor and warmth, whose presence brought light and laughter to those around him.
Walt was a proud alumnus of Sayre High School, graduating with the class of 1980. His professional journey was marked by his tenure as a skilled truck driver for Porters Concrete, where he was known for his reliable work ethic and his ability to fix anything that came his way. Walt's hands were rarely still, as he was always involved in a project or lending his handy skills to friends and neighbors in need.
Beyond his work, Walt's passions colored his life with joy and excitement. An outdoor enthusiast, he often retreated to the serenity of nature for hunting adventures, embracing the quietude of the Pennsylvania woodlands. His love for classic cars and trucks was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for the craftsmanship and beauty of a bygone era. Those who knew Walt were familiar with his quick wit and his status as a jokester. His laughter was infectious, and his ability to spin a tale or crack a joke made every moment with him memorable.
Walt's love and kindness knew no bounds, especially when it came to his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted son, Brandon French of Litchfield, PA; his loving daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Nolan Green of Troy, PA; and his adored grandchildren, Isabella, Brandon, Jasper, and Harper, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. Walt also leaves behind his fiancée, Sheree Ripley, with whom he shared a bond of deep affection and companionship. He will also be missed by his faithful canine companion Naomi.
His life was enriched by the support and love of his siblings: Joyce Simons; Ronald Reynolds, Claude Arnold (Carol French), Diana (Dick) Newman, Kevin Reynolds, and Pennie French. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive him, each carrying a piece of Walt's spirit in their hearts.
Walt was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Mae (Arnold) French; his paternal grandparents, Miles B. and Mildred (Dell Merrill) French; his maternal grandparents, Harry C. and Cora (Brenchley) Arnold; and his siblings, Oscar William French Jr., and Patricia French Casselbury. Their legacy of strength and love laid the foundation for the remarkable man Walt became.
Walt's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, love, and a sense of humor. His impact on the world was as practical as it was profound, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting his guestbook at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com
