Wanda F. Purr, 66, of West Warren, Pa and formerly of Philadelphia and Audubon, Pa passed away on Friday evening, May 22, 2009 at the Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center in Scranton, Pa following a period of declining health. Wanda was born on March 9, 1943 in Chattanooga, TN a daughter of the late Ervin E. and Alline (Scoggins) McDonough. On January 18, 1958, she married Joseph J. Purr, Jr., together they shared many years of happiness and raised five children. Wanda was a devoted grandmother who treasured the time spent with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, shopping, watching soap operas, traveling to visit her family, bird watching and was an excellent cook who liked to try new recipes. Wanda is a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Little Meadows. Wanda is survived by her husband of 51 years, Joseph J. Purr, Jr.; her children: Margaret (Francis) Zerone of Bridgeport, Pa; Joseph J. III (Diane) Purr of Blue Bell, Pa; Helen E. (Steve) Letting of Sanatoga, Pa; Mark L. (Jane) Purr of Norristown, Pa; Monica L. (Joseph) Downs of E. Norriton, Pa; a brother Douglas (Patty) McDonough of Witchta, Kansas; sister Ervileen Pickett of Chattanooga, TN; sister-in-law: Glenda McDonough; brother-in-law Dwayne Keylon; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive. Wanda was predeceased by her parents, a brother Gerald W. McDonough; sister Deborah Keylon. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 27th at 12 noon St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Little Meadows with her pastor Father Cas Stanis, officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held on Wednesday from 9 to 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, NY.
