Wendy Lee (Ketcham) Smith of Owego, New York passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54 on December 11, 2025, at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City. Born on August 8, 1971, in Waverly, Wendy was a beacon of light to all who knew her, living her life with a loving and kind spirit that drew people close. Wendy was the cherished daughter of Nancy (Perry) Ketcham and grew up alongside her devoted sister and caregiver, Debbie Norton, and her supportive brother and sister-in-law, Paul Jr. and Doris Ketcham. Her family circle extended with warmth to her niece Penny (Dan) Gage and family, her nephew Paul Ketcham III and family, as well as to her many cousins and friends. Wendy's faithful canine companion, Toby the cocker spaniel, was a constant source of joy and companionship throughout her life. Her father, Paul Ketcham, Sr., and brother-in-law, Kenneth Norton, predeceased her, leaving cherished memories that continued to inspire Wendy throughout her life. A proud graduate of Tioga Central High School, class of 1989, Wendy was known for her musical talent in the school band where she played the clarinet. Her love for music and the arts was a thread that wove through her life. She was a familiar and friendly face to many as a cashier at the Lounsberry Truck Stop, where her kind demeanor and ever-ready smile brightened everyone’s day. Wendy's commitment to her community was evident through her active involvement with the Owego Lions Club and the Nichols Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary. Among Wendy's many interests, she had a particular love for literature and could often be found listening to books on tape. She had a fondness for the thrilling narratives of Stephen King, which captured her imagination and brought her much enjoyment. Wendy also relished the excitement of playing bingo and was a devoted fan of country music, attending concerts with a special place in her heart for her favorite artist, Toby Keith. Abiding with the families wishes there will be no services. Wendy will be laid to rest next to her father in the Nichols Cemetery.
