Life is a song….Love is the music ~William M. "Bill" Stevens, 76, a lifelong resident of Wyalusing, Pa passed away at his home with his loving and devoted wife Marleah at his side on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2013. Bill was born on May 20, 1936 in Sayre, Pa a son of the late Albert J. and Emma Ruth (Miller) Stevens. He was a graduate of Wyalusing High School class of 1954 and received his Bachelor's in music from Mansfield in 1959. He shared his love for music by serving as a music teacher at Northeast Bradford High School from 1959-1970; band director at Towanda High School from 1971-1981; music teacher at Towanda Middle School from 1981 until his retirement in 1993. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill treasured the time spent with his family. He loved to spend time outdoors and he enjoyed hunting. Bill was an active member of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church since 1949 and he participated with the church choir for over forty years. He was a member of the Wyalusing Adult Band and he participated with the Wyalusing High School pit orchestras. Many will remember Bill as he served as a substitute pianist for many area churches and during the 1960s, he sang with the Choraliers Group in Wyalusing. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Marleah; his son Brian Stevens of Scottsdale, AZ; daughters and sons-in-law: Jackie and Dave Parfitt of East Stroudsburg, Pa; Michelle and Steve Johns of Wyalusing, Pa; his special grandchildren: Ethan Parfitt, Jenelle Johns, and Emily Johns; cousins: Nancy Katte and David Miller. Bill was predeceased by his father Albert in 1977; his mother Emma Ruth in 1975. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of a life well lived for Bill, on Saturday, June 8th at 2 pm at the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church with his pastor, Rev. Barry Ballard, officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the Camptown Cemetery.
