William "Dick" Richard Cropp

To view Dick's service when available clickhere William "Dick" Richard Cropp, 84, of Nichols passed away on Friday morning, November 12, 2021. Dick as he was affectionally known by his family and friends was born on Mother's Day, May 9, 1937 in Liberty, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of the Liberty High School Class of 1955. In 1957, Dick entered in the US Navy and proudly served his country until 1960. On November 3, 1961 in Blossburg, PA he married Betty Plummer and together they have shared 60 years of marriage. Dick retired from IBM - Owego following 30 years of service. Following retirement, Dick kept himself busy as a driver for Stateline Auto Auction. Dick had a love for cooking whether it was at the hunting cabin, cooking at Stateline Auction or for the Masonic Dinners. For many years, Dick served as sexton of the Nichols Cemetery and always made sure the grounds were perfect for those that would visit. He was a member of the Nichols United Methodist Church, a 50+ member of the Nichols Masonic Lodge and the Kalurah Shrine in Endicott. Dick always looked forward to spending time at his camp hunting and fishing and was a member of the Blackwolf Rod & Gun Club. Dick will be greatly missed by his wife Betty; his daughter Brenda Gage; son and daughter-in-law: John and Karen Cropp; his grandchildren: Derrick Gage, Willy Cropp and Lauren Cropp. A sister and brother-in-law: Carol and Harley Pittenger and family; and his faithful canine companion Goldie Mae. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, November 20th from 10 to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
