William H. Baldwin, 67, of Spring Meadow Lane, Culpeper, VA and formerly of Nichols, NY passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday evening, October 19, 2008. Bill was born on November 5, 1940 in Warwick, NY a son of the late Hugh and Marea (Hill) Baldwin. He was a veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the Nichols Fire Dept and the Nichols American Legion. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan, especially enjoying watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years Belle M. (Felton) Baldwin; his children: Laura (Kenn) Briggs of Nichols; Carol (Keith) Hopkins of Elon, NC; Teri (David) Shumway of Orange, VA; Valarie (Daniel) Walker of Haywood, VA; Pamela (John) Coffman of Brandy Station, VA; his sisters: Doris (Robert) Jones of SC, Amy Baldwin of NY, and a brother: George Michael (Mary) Baldwin of NY; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Bernice Phalin and two grandsons. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Bill's life on Saturday, October 25 at 11 am at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Curtis Coffman, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. A period of visitation and sharing memories will be held at the funeral chapel from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
