Grieve not…nor speak of me with tears…but laugh and talk of me…as though I were beside you. I loved you so…'twas Heaven here with you. Our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather William W. "Bill" Cherry, 73, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Friday, July 24, 2009. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Marcia (Olmstead) Cherry, his sons and daughters-in-laws: Bill (Marian) Cherry, Chris (Erin) Cherry, Ed (Heather) Cherry, Christina Cherry; Rich (Savannah) Cherry, John (Rose) Cherry, Richard "Bunty" (Cheryl) Hartel; his special Bichon daughters Angel, Secret and Stormy; his siblings: Bob and Mary Egan, Ann Cherry, Gene and Marge Simmons, Mildred Powers, Tom and Kathy Cherry, Joe and Mary Cherry, Larry Cherry; nine grandchildren: John Jr., E.J., Courtney, Anthony, Tyler, Cameron, Emmalee, Kaylyn and Slade; his mother-in-law: Joanne Olmstead; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: David and Christy Olmstead. Several nieces, nephews and their families, a special friend Bob Pendlebury along with our extended family, Dr. Kahn and his staff at Broome Oncology, Lourdes Hospice, Deacon Joe and Father Bebel. We thank them for all their love, support and care during Bill's illness. Bill was predeceased by his parents, eight brothers, three sisters and his father-in-law William "Stub" Olmstead. Bill was born on February 25, 1936 in Boston, Mass one of eighteen children to the late Michael and Margaret (Souther) Cherry. A devoted husband and father, Bill treasured the time spent with his family, was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling with Marcia to Hawaii. He was an employee of WTC-Logan Airport as an Operations Manger and later retired from Lexis Nexus. Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 11 am at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 131 Main St., Johnson City. A period of visitation and time of sharing memories will be held today, July 26th from 4 to 8 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols, NY.
