Winifred I. Bostwick

Winifred I. Bostwick, 84, of Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY passed away peacefully with her family at her side, Sunday evening, December 12, 2010. Winifred was born on February 5, 1926 in Chesham, England a daughter of the late John William and Elsie Rose (Plested) Staples. She spent her youth in England and on August 5, 1944 she married Edward Charles Bostwick while he was stationed in the military. Together they made Waverly their home, until his passing on March 27, 2006 following nearly 62 years of marriage. Winifred treasured the time spent with her family, enjoyed traveling, weekly phone calls to her sister, knitting, crocheting and being with her cat JoJo. Her light and memory will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Winifred is survived by her children: Maria and Fred Schrimp; Gary Bostwick and Donna Button; Virginia Temple; Michael and Shawn Bostwick; Les and Bonnie Bostwick; Richard and Marsha Bostwick; Donald and Roberta Bostwick; Kevin Bostwick; Patrick and Laurie Bostwick; Eddie and Corky Bostwick; James Bostwick; her sisters: Nora Wall and Freda Richardson. Twenty grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Winifred was predeceased by her parents, husband Edward and siblings: Raymond Staples and Joan Hancock. Funeral services and a celebration of Winifred's life will be held on Saturday, December 18 at 1 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols with Pastor Gary Smith, officiating. Interment will follow in the Nichols Cemetery. The family will receive their friends on Saturday from 11 am until the time of the service.
