Marilyn Kay Chandler

June 16, 1946 - October 31, 2018

A mother holds her children’s hands for a little while and their hearts forever…..Our hearts were broken on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 with the sudden and unexpected passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Marilyn Kay Chandler, 72, of Owego. Marilyn was born on June 16, 1946 in Sayre, Pennsylvania a daughter of the late Donald I. and Bernita B. (Williams) Hunt. Marilyn was a graduate of Tioga Central High School and Broome Tech. For over thirty years, Marilyn was employed as a Technical Writer for IBM-Lockheed Martin. Devoted to her family, Marilyn treasured the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was so inspirational and had deep wisdom and insight to offer to all ~ she had a witty personality, and always knew the right thing to say at any time. Marilyn loved working in her flower gardens. She treasured long conversations, sunsets at the beach, the peacefulness of her front porch and family campfires. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Kevin (Lisa) Chandler of Owego; Jill (Michael) Kent of Elmira; Eric (Rebecca) Chandler of Owego; her special grandchildren: Alex, Kelsey, Kamryn, Logan, Carissa and Mason. Her siblings: Donald Hunt of Nichols; John (Shirley) Hunt of Rome PA; Carolyn (Klaas) Koetse. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families also survive. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Donald I. and Bernita Hunt; and a brother Charles Hunt. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories on Thursday, November 8th from 3-5 at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A memorial service and celebration of her life will follow at 5pm with Pastor Bill Prentice, officiating. A private family interment will be held at the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa. Memories, condolences or your favorite photo of Marilyn may be shared by visiting her guest book at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to Stray Haven, 194 Shepard Road, Waverly, NY 14892 in loving memory of Marilyn Kay Chandler.
