Richard E. Thresher, 72 Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, so very dear…Richard E. Thresher, 72, of Front St., Athens, PA passed away on December 28, 2015 following a brief period of declining health. Dick, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends was born on October 4, 1943 a son of Lilith (Bowman) Morningstar and step son of Elden Morningstar. He was a graduate of Athens High School class of 1962. For over 38 years, Dick was employed as a machinist for Ingersoll Rand. Dedicated and devoted to his community, Dick was a Life Member of the Valley Ambulance Corps where he served as an EMT. In addition, he also was a member of the Fire Department and Fire Police for Athens Township and Fire Department for Athens Borough. In 2002, he received the “Top Five” Fire Police Responders Award. When not assisting his community and others in need, Dick enjoyed spending time on his computer and building furniture. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Joan (Zimmer) Thresher; his sons and daughter-in-law: Robert A. Thresher of Waverly, NY; Michael C. and Clarice Thresher of Sykesville, MD; his grandchildren: Noelle and Benjamin; and a special sister-in-law Betty Bradley of Waverly. Abiding with his wishes, there will be no services.
